Sorry this one is a bit late. We've been out of town for a few days visiting Gramma King in Albuquerque and having some work done on my violin and cello. The new ultrasound photos are up on Baby's website now ( http://members.tripod.com/~NeysaKerr/BabyDavison ) and there's a rumor that one of the pictures bears a striking resemblance to a certain member of the Kerr family. See if you can figure it out!
WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH YOUR BABY
Your baby weighs just about two and one half pounds now. The length of his or her body is about 15 inches -- head to feet. If someone puts his or her ear up to your belly, over the fetal back, your baby's heartbeat will probably be distinguishable! Your baby will probably be very active between weeks 24 and 28. You may notice in the weeks to come that your baby will begin to have regular, predictable patterns of movement and sleep. Most definitely! Baby is most active soon after I eat a meal, and particularly at bedtime (and after). I suppose I should start getting used to the "schedule" while I have the chance!
Your baby's becoming more sensitive to sound as the network of nerves in her ears develops. Have dad talk to her now, so she'll learn to recognize his voice. The more she hears it, the more likely she is to find it soothing after she's born. If he feels strange just talking to the baby, he can read the newspaper or a book out loud.
FACT OF THE WEEK
According to the March of Dimes, more than 50 million people now use computers. You may wonder, "Is surfing the net causing my unborn baby harm?" Studies have been inconclusive. Some suggest an increase in miscarriage rate among video display terminal (VDT) users, while others can detect no relationship. It's possible that factors such as stress at work might play an equal or larger role.
